Kirini O.K. is a visual artist, writer, and musician. Her work is concerned with the interrogation of wants, those ends we desire perhaps in shame: capital, notoriety, ownership of things. Even in rejection of these goals, in our definition of ourselves against them, there is an acknowledgement of their power and of just how central they are to belonging. Kirini mines these clingy longings in order to understand them better, and, ultimately, to seek a way to be free. At the base of her work is the fundamental question: if these wants are not achievable, and the wanting will not stop even if they were, then how does one live life?
